Is there any way of removing my details from this forum as I leave?

On 30th October you said:"This is a great forum with lots of help and advice from most who contribute. We,re never too old to learn from others who are growing good crops ( most people except me this year!) and who are always willing to help.

I joined it because I like the attitudes of you all so I,m not looking elsewhere."
So what has happened to change your mind?

You are a very positive person and make positive friendly posts.  Please stick around a bit longer!

grawrc

And to answer your question - no I don't think you can remove your details. I wanted to leave about a year ago and I emailed Dan asking him to remove my details and posts. He just ignored my email.

Naff, leaving is not the answer to this.............

naff

Grawc, you,re right I,m usually positive in outlook but even to me this forum now looks like it,s going downhill rapidly with more political and morality argument than allotment info and news.
I joined it as you quoted to learn from others and to enjoy their outlook on life, because of the above I,m no longer learning or enjoying. It,s a shame really because most members are people I,ve come to like and respect, but as usual there are some who have to have their opinion seen to be the only one that matters and they spoil it for the majority.
If I wanted to be part of a PC community I,d join a political party,If I needed moral guidance I,d go to church, I did not want either. I just wanted gardening knowledge and it no longer takes preference on this forum.
As far as leaving is concerned it sounds like joining the Masons, you can never leave!!
I might mull it over for a day or so before deciding.

grawrc

I'd take a few days out if I were you and maybe come back and see if it's any better. It always seems to get silly at this time of year. People aren't posting so much about gardening. When they do it's normally better. And there are some really nice folk who never get involved in the silliness.

Mind you there seem to be some folk on the forum now who always seem to be provocative in their posting and rarely post about gardening topics. That's not so good. But don't forget the magic  ignore button!

I hope you don't leave but I would understand if you did.

naff  goodbye.
Since you  have had enough with a4 so be it.  have nice life and hope you find green pastures.

Morning Naff  :)

Hope you decide to stick around, maybe as Grawrc said take a break for a few days. I kind of know how you feel, sometimes I log on here in the morning and look at what has been going on and think - well not much gardening has been done today! I wonder if it is the time of year, and come the New Year when we all start getting the spuds orders in, and new seed deliveries, and a few chilli seeds sown things will look and feel a bit better. I'm sure it will  :)

And I hope you don't go for good, we need positive people around us  :)

I seem to remember that there's an option available not to see the Watershed. Perhaps that's the answer? I remember a few years ago I simply never looked in the watershed and stuck to the garening boards.

I have had a good look at those beehive plans, Naff, and have a much better idea of what to do now. Thank you.

As far as your present thoughts go, to quote BM:

Everything's gonna be all right!
I said, everything's gonna be all right-a!

Naff - why don't you do as I do. I just have the boards I'm interested in in a folder on My Favourites - and even then I only read the threads that interest me. It would take too much time to read them all anyway!

The ignore button is very useful, but I've noticed that suddenly there are no more postings that show me 'this person is currently ignored'.

Dan does a great job for us all. I know I'd be lost without A4All!

I fail to see why people have to make a fuss and announce their departure.  Are they hoping for an ego boost from a long list of people begging them to stay?

As for being boring, except for professional gardeners, most people have very little opportunity for gardening just now.  It's dark when they leave for work and dark when they get back so they can't even see their garden and weekends either have inclement weather or other activities so most people can only dream of gardening and new projects for the coming year.

Making lists is helpful and absorbing.  Planning next year's displays and crops can drive off winter blues - and doing it on A4A helps others decide what to grow.

Well naff .I will be the first in that awfully long list to ask you not to leave . I do understand why you feel the way you do but hang on in there for a while  and see how you feel in the new year.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Tulipa

Naff, it will get better.... once people start sowing seeds again, they are suffereing withdrawal symptoms at the moment and it reflects itself on here!  Honest! ;)

I blame the lousy weather. People are indoors of an evening getting drunk in front of their computer rather than digging!

Leaving any forum is quite a simple procedure. You simply put another address in the address bar of your browser and stop visiting the forum you want to leave. The only exception is for www.rocketscienceforums.com which requires lots of maths and physics equations to depart from.

I think Naff was originally asking how to clear your user name and details from the forum - a bit like clearing and closing your account on Facebook. I don't think it is possible for users to do this on here  :-\

Digeroo

I find that the forum is not as interesting at the moment as it was when I first joined.  Roll on the spring and we can get back to discussing vegetables.  But I also enjoy the humour.

I have dabbled in a few other forums but always seem to come back here.

Humour, what humour, are we allowed.  ;D ;D ;D ;)
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.
