Thank you everyone.

It's actually howling gales and heavy downpours out there today and I've had to go out twice to resurrect an obelisk with Princess Diana growing on it and even after being decpitated she's still blowing over.   All the others are OK though and the only thing that has taken flight is the wheelie bin.    I'm not complaining though as we get a week of snow around this time 2 years out of three and it gets jolly cold.

I've been out for lunch with the Belgian scientists who do English conversation with me - lots of fun mingled with some serious chat about the British newspapers' reaction to the new president of the EU and one horrified scientist bemoaning the state of GW on BBC2.   They know I'm a gardener and so are most of them.   The entire restaurant joined them in singing happy birthday which made me go very pink.

Family celebrations this evening and dinner out so I shall obviously have to start another diet tomorrow.
