No but it's going in for it's MOT tomorrow morning... fingers crossed she'll last another year.

No chance!

I've had it for over 12 years now and it wasn't new when I had it.
It is perfect for what I need and I would never dream of changing it so long as it still works.

Anyway, if I had a brand new car it would mean I'd have to clean it and I can't be doing with that. ;)

Still got me banger and no they will not be mashing it for a newer one.

Got them back now to put some tread on them

We have two over ten years old and wouldn't dream of sending either of them to be scrapped when they are both running so well.  I wouldn't buy a new car anyway.

To get one to tow the caravan would set us back about £15000.

If my Fiesta packed up, I wouldn't replace it because we don't really need two cars now I have a bus pass.  The V reg Fiesta has only done 51,000 miles and is in a very good condition so it would be criminal to send it to the scrap heap.

Can't afford to buy a new one, even with £2,000 discount. My old Micra runs well, is good on petrol and has very low emissions. I'd hate to see it scrapped. Will probably trade it in for something a bit bigger and safer next year, but it will be another banger!

No, I haven't scrapped mine either. Firstly, I can't afford another even with the discount. Secondly, my present one (a Skoda Felicia Estate, regd. 2000) still passes the MOT. It does what I want, which a new one would not. Last Tuesday three of us travelled to Santon Downham (Thetford Chase) with our bikes in the back (double seat folded), had a good day out cycling, lunch at The Larling Angel and home again (28 miles cycling).

My banger is 16 years old, is that an A4A record?
It's a K reg astra and has recently completed it's 100,000 mile.
I just had both exhaust bits replaced for £90.

I couldn't afford to buy a new car anyway.

Mine's an L-reg astra - 153,000 on the clock and still going strong.  Wouldn't part with it for £2,000 - we'v e been a long way together that car and me, all round europe many times  :-* :-* :-* :-*

Mine's a K reg Fiesta with a mere 45,000 miles on the clock. It's being serviced and MOT'd tomorrow!

Mine's an N registered Micra with just over 33,000 miles on the clock.
I clean it regularly - once a year when the MOT is due!

Wouldn't dream of changing it though, it's perfect for what I need.

Must have been Delboy or one of his mates who dreamed up the scrappage scheme, to keep the price of secondhand cars high.
