early morning bin men

Does anyone have any experience of bin men calling too early?
There is a small buisness at the rear of our property and their refuse is collected separately to our domestic collection.They, the refuse collectors have called 6.45am 6.30 am and this morning 6.05 am Grrrrr.
I have spoken to the enviroment people and they're great ,they contact the company who assure them they won't come so early, but they do!Several neighbours are now affected .
I must make it clear I've got nothing against bin men ours are a fab crew who do a great job and are often unappreciated.I just want this other lot to come later. Any suggestions? ???

Over the road there's a block of flats with shops underneath that get their bins emptied between 6:00 and 6:30 on a Wednesday morning. It's annoying but we cope! I've always assumed it's to beat the congestion - hadn't thought I'd get anywhere complaining... maybe I'll give it a go too!

if it isn't every morning  and while you are trying to sort it out could you not try ear plugs the night before collection so you won't be disturbed the next morning?

There is a milkman who delivers early down our street, should we complain about him, too? and what about the paper-boy, all that letter-box rattling and all!!

Our recycling people come at 6am on a monday morning, but even worse, they sort all the recycling by hand from all the rigid plastic boxes on the pavement, the plastic boxes bang and scrape across the pavement very noisily for a good 10 minutes.

Grrrrr.  But that said they are great and even when we forget to pull out the wheelie bins they come in and get them anyway (not so great when we are on holiday and they then leave them out on the pavement for a fortnight....)

Our recycling bin men come at 6:30!! Most times I sleep right through the collection and  I dont hear them. Our bin men must wear slippers !!

If it was necessary like daily deliveries I'd understand but this is ONE wheelie bin on their whole round, it's the only business for several streets ,the area is completely residential and the company have assured the council they won't do it...I'm ranting sorry :o

To be honest - I would just put up with it.

The blokes are doing their job - they may work longer hours to make more money.  There is a different set of binmen collecting the business waste and the "residential" waste. 

I mean - to be honest - it isn't that bad waking early and if you normally don't have interruptions - you should either get back to sleep or use the time usefully!

I used to have a noisy milkman in our road - 4'ish and his diesel engine and stopping and starting (he only went to 2 or 3 houses) was horrendous and then he returned after about 15 minutes - but I never thought of complaining as this guy was doing his job and even if I wasn't disturbed another set of people in another road would have been.

There are many more important things to worry about other than this!

Yep same here, I am a light sleeper, and have to have my windows opens 24/7 so when I hear the rattling and stopping and starting I dont need to glance at the clock as I know for sure its 4am and the milkman is on his round.

The bin men are here by 6am but by that time some of us are dressed and off out, ships that pass in the night, bless them, imagine what time they have to be reporting in for duty for what is probably not much more than basic pay?

Honeybee I agree our binmen are fab they do a difficult job and are so undervalued until there is a strike and the public at large see how much work these guys do.We give our guys cans of coke every week and a friendly smile and thankyou because we value what they do BUT my original post was because this once a week collection is just that and could be collected later their depot have said so .I just want a quiet life ,didn't buy a property opposite shops,next to a garage etc just a little house in a quiet road next to lots of other little houses......

I would keep on at them. I appreciate what others are saying but I'm a light sleeper and can sympathise as something like this would really bother me, even if it's only once a week. If they've said that they can deliver later then I would keep pushing them. Is it worth speaking to the shop? I run a small business and would be horrified if I found out my deliveries/refuse collections were bothering neighbours and would certainly chase it up myself. :)
