Bad stains on very special (vitreous enamel) bath caused, we believe, by Silver Nitrate wart treatment.

Cif won't touch them. Bleach has reduced them a little.

What next??

in B&Q they sell cans of white enamel paint very easy to use lightly sand the area down with some wet and dry paper to give it a key then give a spray leave 24 hrs to dry then re use the bath have re enamled my whole bath this way saved my self a fortune as if you get someone to do it for you costs a couple of hundred pound do it your self cost about £ 30.00

You could try rubbing it over with a bit of sulphur and then going over it with some Duraglit.  It might not work, but I don't think it will make it worse.

When we moved in to this bungalow 20 years ago we had an old fashioned bath (iron/vitreous enamel?). It was in a terrible state, green water stains etc. The landlord sent a chap in who used an electric soft buffer pad, I don't know if he had anything on the pad. I couldn't believe the result when I came home from work. Brilliant, as good as new. Unfortunately they had to remove the bath when late husband needed a walk in shower.

Tim,
Being enamel which I  imagine is the same finish as  a gas oven why not try an oven cleaner, JML do a paste cleaner which is multi purpose you will find this product in Wilkinsons, :)

Tim Lidls do a "magic" sponge for stain removing on all surfaces. Might be worth a try if you have one near you.
