Carrot = loved by the rabbit (pet)
Beetroot = my parents had some cooked this morning with their lunch and one went across the road to their neighbour (not on it's own... you understand  ::) )  ;D

galina

We had turkey with tomato (the ones taken in green are ripening at a rapid rate on the windowsill), garlic, beans, courgettes and a bought aubergine.  Devillish hot little pepper was a present from Squash (and after extracting seeds for next year), it gave everything a nice zing  ;D

susan1

spuds, cabbage, some of the last runner beans and swede,  with roast chicken and sage and onion stuffing, home grown sage and yummy onion gravy

I sow turnips in late July.  Most years we get some nice roots before the colder weather puts a stop to further root development.  the plants that haven't developed proper roots get cloched over winter (they survive quite well).  Their roots won't grow further, but in early spring they make masses of green tops which are welcome at this time of year.

I think it is too late now, but maybe you could try just a few and cloche them well for a chance of spring greens.
