Fhew, had a busy day today. Marked out and dug over three beds each 4.5m x 2m. Removed weeds and dug over another patch 4.5m x 2m of my plot which is full of couch grass. (do you ever get rid of those roots?, every time I dig I find some more!) Planted garlic and overwintering onion into one of the beds. Collected from stables and dumped onto plot 4 large bags of horse manure. Made rhubarb and apple crumble, rhubarb and ginger jam. Finished off and packaged my last batch of home-made soap. Washed car because it was splatted with mud from riding stables and allotment. And inbetween that I did three school runs (one in the morning, one at lunch time, and one at 3pm), cooked tea for kids and fed hens, did three loads of washing, and have started dinner for me and hubby. Now time to sit down with a glass of wine and relax before bath and bed time for kids. My reward for all that? Today I got a leaflet through the door, someone wants to do an ironing service. Well I gave the girl a call and she's coming tomorrow to collect my ironing pile and will return it duly the next day nicely pressed. What luxury!  ;D

So what did you do today?

flippin' 'eck, i didn't do as much as you!
but am pleased with what i did do-cutting down the greenhouse toms, and laying out the few left to ripen-harvesting peppers and chillis and also some 'bag-grown' desiree potatoes, which i'm very pleased with.
i sorted out the plants in waiting on the top of the coldframe. i particularly enjoyed bashing the stems of the tomatoes with a hammer so they 'go' quicker in the compost. that brought my neighbour out to see what i was doing!
working on my sowing plan for next year, reading a4a and housework >:(.!
talking to my neighbour, as i do every day-his wife is terminally ill, i try to 'keep an eye' on them and help out.
back to work tomorrow AND i've got a cold :(.

Took my beetroot sower to nursery for the first time. Just round the corner is a community centre and they have a nursery in the mornings and afternoons for a couple of hours. Little one was very shy and reluctant to start to play. He played with the cars & garage for a few minutes before they were put away, and blocks/playdoh/sand activities started. He didn't want to sit with the others rolling playdoh, but did start playing with the building blocks. I stayed throughout the session, and it will take a couple of sessions or so before I can leave him.

Then, we went on the Welsh Highland Railway for a return trip. We saw the green steam engine which was hauling a booked charter (there were only about 4 passengers on the train in first class - and almost full set of carriages, and would have cost in the region of £1200-£1500)

Tonight, I am off down the pub for a Welsh language chat evening. Mimi - how's your Welsh (we will be in the Anglesey arms!)?

Sat looking at a computer all day at work - and now I'm doing it again at home (bl##dy H#ll).

In between computer stints, sorted the children out, stuck stickers on charts celebrating another dry night (but darling, I know I said I wanted a dry bed, but I also meant to say not to shout for me everytime you think you might need a wee in the night. Oh dear, moving the goalposts again).

Wished I had been on the plot like you Jess. Blimey - aren't you acheing after all that?

Breakfasted sprogs and took them to school, took car to doctors, picked up courtesty car.  Home, ironing, 3 loads of washing, all dry on the line - hoorah, more ironing - boo.  Son dropped off on school bus, lunch whilst reading my newly delivered 2005 marshalls catalogue!  Bubble wrapped my greenhouse - battled with several large spiders that fancied my hair as a new home - am sure there is a mouse family living in there, altho never seen them.  Picked my lemon tomatos, all wonderfully yellow.  Beefsteaks are still ripening nicely and I hope will be ready for picking by the weekend.  Picked up daughter after her cookery club and drove to garage to pick up car.  Went to Asda - fatal with kids as spent more than I intended.  Came home, cooked their dinner, prepared our dinner - liver and bacon, lottie kale, lottie parsnip and potato mash, lottie peas.  Got sproggles ready for bed and whilst they watched some cartoons, I wrote several dream seed lists.  Ava arrived, he put kidney beans to bed whilst I cooked tea.  Cor, the exciting world of Emma Jane!  Mind you, tomorrow will be more fun, off to the allotment to start digging my new patch!  ;D
