I am very interested in keeping doves and wondered if anyone here knows anything about how to go about it. What would be involved in setting up, can I make my own dovecote, and how much time will I need to spend on them after they have settled in?

Thanks,
Sarah.

A family close to me have about 20 of 'em. They pinch the seed for the wild birds in my garden and make a constantly boring noise morning and evening. I hope you have understanding neighbours or you live miles from anyone else, if so, go for it.  Personally I'd ban them along with noisy dogs off the lead, but then I'm the only person in the world that hates other peoples noisy scavengers.

If you have any young children I'd let them spend time with someones Pigeons or Doves or any other birds that can flutter their wings just to make absolutely sure they are not allergic, Birds can infect people even in the out doors.

(in the out doors)? Have I said that right? ::) ???
