Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone could tell me what to feed overwintering onions with?  Many thanks

I usually give them a bit of growmore.

The normal spring booster would be nitrogen based to get them to put on more "leaf" then something with plenty of phosphate in it to improve the roots/bulb.... I always used to use dried blood in mid-March and then fine bonemeal in mid-late April..... generally used to grow Radar I think it was called..... haven't grown overwintering onions for a while now though so YMMV...

was thinking of some fish, blood and bone around over winter garlic and broad beans - anyone think its a good/bad idea?

It's what I'd be doing if I had overwintered beans and garlic in the ground but I'd probably mix 50:50 with bonemeal for the onions

Hi Seagreen, Welcome to A4A...
I'm lazy I use growmore as well... might get a bit of urea if the soil is damp...  :-X
