Well I've given up the lottie and I'm now trying to plan out what I can fit into my mums garden.  I have a patch that is 8ft in width and 24ft in length.  It gets the sun all day.  This is what I have planned so far, but I just want to check whether I can fit anything else in here.  These are the only veg I want, so if I can get extras of each then it'll be a bonus.

Leek (Musselburgh) - 2 rows of 12 plants per row (going across the 8ft)
Parsnip - 2 rows of 12 per row
Lettuce (Little Gem) - 1 row of 16 per row
Carrot (Amsterdam) - 2 rows of 9 per row
Carrot (Market) - 2 rows of 12 per row
Carrot (Purple) - 1 row of 9 per row
Cauliflower (all year) - 1 row of 8 per row
Beetroot (boltardy) - 1 row of 24 per row
Beetroot (Detroit) - 1 row of 24 per row
Brussel (wellington) - 1 row of 4 per row
Broccoli (autumn) - 1 row of 8 per row

I'm happy to sacrifice one of the beetroot rows if I need to.

Any advice would be very greatly appreciated as I'm rubbish at planning on a small scale lol  ;D

Oh potatoes are going somewhere else so I don't need to factor in those.

I reckon you have some 5' spare - so, at least another lot of Brussels?

Thanks Tim.  I think I'd be more inclined to do more parsnips, leeks, cauli or brocolli as we probably eat more of those.  Reckon I can squeeze in another row each of those?

I'm confused, slightly, maybe a senior moment ???
1 row of purple carrots, 9 per row, is this across the 8'?

Lol - nope that was my senior moment! Actually just realised that none of the packets say how far apart they have to be from each other!  Any ideas? I'm thinking 2 or 3" apart??  Reason I ask is cos no matter what I did last year on lottie they refused to grow full stop - so have nothing to compare with lol  ;D

we sow a few to a hole, 2 to 3 inches apart, pick some as baby carrot bunches and leave the rest to get bigger, maybe 4 or 5 inches apart at the end  :)

I allow four rows of earlies/specials under a normal width of fleece... to keep the fly off or 3 rows of mains like Autumn King....  :)
