New Secretary, HELP!!!

I've been 'lumbered' with the post of secretary, as poss only one on committee with a pooter and some typing skills.
Got a disc from the last sec, gulp, there's loads of stuff on it.! can any one on these boards give some advice? PLEASE? (I'd rather do this throug the p.m. facility, or live chat, than on an open forum)

Get as much information as you can about events, insurance, letters ect that need dealing with and work from there :)
