i have got hundreds of caterpilars eating my brussel sprouts, does anybody know if i can pull them out and put them in the compost bin or will that effect the compost ie caterpilars laying eggs. cheers :-\ ???

They won't live in compost so don't worry.

hi and welcome sorry about your infestation, but this year has been bad in relation to caterpillar numbers see some of the posts on caterpillars in the last 60 days;

on another note some butterfly lifecycle 101 ;)
caterpillars don't lay eggs, butterflies do which hatch into caterpillars.
