help on growing veg

hi i have just got my first allotment.  I take ownership this week.  could you tell me what veg i can plant at this time of year.

French beans, runner beans, courgettes and other summer squash, fast maturing winter squash, salad crops, carrots, swedes - there will be more.  Then over wintering veg such as spring cabbage and cauliflower.

Also, first early and second early spuds can go in if you can get them.

Fennel, pak choi, peas.coriander ,spring onions and there will be even more ! also early autumn think about  'autumn' sown onion sets
broad beans ,garlic and peas to over winter and perhaps some  October/November sown sweet peas in a cold frame, to plant out early spring.

Welcome to the site.  At our site nursery, we grow surplus plug plants of veg to sell in our lottie shop for many plot holders who forgot to sow, seedlings never germinated,  got eaten by slugs and also for newbies.  Maybe there is one near you that does a similar thing?  I am sure if you ask around your lottie neighbours - people always have spare.  I always sow more than I need.  We charge around 10p each - which is still very cheap for cabbages and caulis etc come winter.

Some seed companies also sell plug-plants but they will be more expensive.  Never had to use them for this myself though.

Also Askham Bryan College open day on Saturday- don't know whether they sell veg plants there but worth a look (watch out for the race traffic going into York though!)
