This is a sad, happy, sad tale. On the local golf course (dog walk) there was a pair of swans. Sadly one was taken by a fox. The remaining swan stayed on the pond alone for 2 years. (how sad) Then the pond was drained and swan disappeared for a while. Pond filled and a pair appeared with 4 cygnets. I don't think it can be the original swan as I understand they mate for life. Now there are 3 cygnets, and feathers in my garden so I assume foxy has been at it again. I always have a chat with the swan family and today they presented themselves for a photo call.

Lovely, used to enjoy visting the swans at Lincoln when I lived that way :)

Need a Leek

In our local harbour mum and dad swans have 5 cygnets, and every other day "ish" I go down to give them all a feed. I got chatting to a chap who lives on a boat and they all gather around his stern each morning and evening being pretty verbal as he has been feeding them too. It does make me chuckle as two of the five young ones are always scouting elsewhere like little tearaways mind you when they get wind that there is food about they paddle like a warship. It is so nice to see family ways in wildlife if you know what I mean.

Cheers

Certainly is Tony, all present and correct today. Luckily my dog isn't interested in anything other than a ball, but I do know that a friends lab goes in for a swim, but surprisingly they tolerate him ;D
