Prescription Glasses Online?

Anyone ordered any? And if so was it sucessful? If it was any recommendations?

Both my distance and my sunglasses have big scratches on them and at the price our optician charges.....I just can't afford it!

Funny that Katy, I was just looking at them, and have uploaded a photo of me, and have been "trying on" several pairs! ;D (Blinking clever that!)

I was looking at the funky coloured ones until my 19 year old proclaimed they looked funny and I was far too old to be wearing funky glasses! :o ::) :'( ;D

Hi Doris, I've bought about 3 pairs now online over the last couple of years and they've been FAB! I have used a couple of companies including speckyfoureyes who were excellent.

I don't think you are EVER too old for some funky specs, I'm a hairdresser and have clients of all ages but I reckon some of my clients in their seventies have more style and confidence than some in their mid twenties. Go for it, get yourself a pair of funky specs and ENJOY them!!!  ;D

Go for it Doris, the funky specs, as Glosterwomble says you're never too old, I had a purple streak put in my hair two weeks ago and I love it............................I also have a free bus pass ;D

Snap,I had some purple streaks,they were meant to be chestnut red ,came out wrong but they looked pretty good.
Reminds me of that poemI shall wear purple. :)

Well I am now the proud owner of a pair of bright blue prescription specs, and all for the brilliant price of £20!!
Just waiting for another pair to arrive, and some sunglasses, the total cost for the 3 pairs............£80! ;D ;D
Never shopping at my local spec shop again!

Fab timing! Thanks. Have been umming and aaahing over prescription sunglasses again today!! Have clips, which I preferred - £20 as opposed to the £400 for lenses alone that I was quoted locally, but would still prefer proper glasses.

Will def look further - so far, looks like around £100 - I usually have thinner lenses as they're so strong!

I've considered getting glasses online before but asked the same questions as in here really.

I've just looked on glassesdirect website and thier designer glasses are way more expensive than specsavers! my current quicksilver frame was £100 + £40 for reaction lenses but I got a second pair of quicksilver glasses (different frame) and lenses for free.
On that website the same frame is £140. Not sure if this includes lenses though.

So although this site looks great for normal frames (and there are some very nice ones on there) if your looking to spend a little bit more, I'd still suggest a quick visit to your local opticians.

I recently used www.thinlenses.co.uk and I am extremely impressed with their service. Their prices are amazing.

I have a High Prescription and prefer wearing High Refractive Lenses to help reduce the thickness of my glasses, this helps with my confidence. In the past I have paid extortionate amounts of money to the High Street Retailers for this priviledge, something that I would consider an essential requirement. This why I was so amazed that I was able to purchase two pairs for a lot less than what I would have normally paid for one pair from the High Street Retailers.

It was my first time buying glasses online. I found the process very easy as I was contacted by their Customer Service team via telephone and I was able to speak to a person who guided me through the whole process from helping choose frames from there wide selection, right through to when they contacted me to make sure I was happy with my new glasses when they arrived.

I would recommend www.thinlenses.co.uk to anyone and definately think they're worth a try.

Do the frames have to be tailored to fit individuals heads or is it a case of 1 size fits all? I have never ordered glasses online but I am tempted.
