Mr Smith

I know we have many seasoned travellors on this site, but if you had a choice to move to another country which one would it be. Personally for me it would be Western Australia(in the bush) about 220 miles S/E of Perth or a Colonial African country which these days we dont have the pleasure to administrate other than that the Greek Island of Simi :)

This one is easy for me.

Nepal, despite its problems, its a brilliant place and the people are so friendly.

I was there in 1991 recruiting for the Gurka Regiments,I could easily have stayed there....dont think my wife would have been imressed though  ;D
You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends nose

If I didn't have to work and money was no object I would buy one of the houses round Oulton Broad in Norfolk.  Not as exotic as some of the other choices but to me it would be perfect.  Garden leading to the broad with our own jetty for the boat, monster veggie patch I could spend all day tending (when I am not sailing) and some lovely pubs.  Even better only 1 1/2 hours drive from everybody I care about.  Perfect.

France - Vendee region, if it had to be abroad.

North Devon - my maternal home, if it had to be here.

Edinburgh, the Lake District or New Zealand.....I don't know which though....possibly Edinburgh and the Lake district are interchangeable as it would be easy to visit one from the other. Obviously I used to live in NZ and i also used to live close to Edinburgh and I spend my holidays in the Lake District.

Faced with a choice i'd find it difficult to choose.

I'll see you in Cork Gunnerbee, or Wicklow...................beautiful country............beautiful people ;D :D ;)
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

In one month I will be emigrating to NY State, up near the Canada border.

Without a job lined up, and just my house deposit to live on.

I must be mad.

Though I can buy a 4 bedroom house on an acre of land surrounded by woodland for $120,000.

Living in the South East, there's no chance of getting a one bed flat for that money.

Good luck with your move Paul. Keep in touch when you get to the US  ;)

Larkshall

Well! from my pseudonym on this site it has to be 2 Larkshall, where I lived when working for the Forestry Commission in S.W. Norfolk. Sandy, well drained soil, warms up quickly. Everything grows well provided you feed it. One year we had an abundance of Rhubarb, we got a friend who was in the local camp to bring an Army Land Rover and we filled it for the cookhouse (they were fed up with tinned stuff). We had some broccoli the size of currant bushes (being a Forester, the previous tenant had fed them on tree fertiliser).

Really really happy where I am in Orgiva! The Alpujarra moutain range is stunning, the views from the roof are 360 mountains. The down side is the scorching summer :P! We went to Asturias and Galicia over Christmas and were knocked out by it over there, so when we move thats where we'll go!

I would love to spread myself between Varkala in Kerla India and anywhere in Donegal. I also really like Spain and Italy ;)
