You may want to change your avatar

I have looked at a site via a link  from a thread on this site.

Removed link, proabably should stay in The Watershed!

I do think the site is humorous and has its place.  Nor do I mind the threads being altered.  But I do mind the fact that the site copied our avatars as mine was of my 2 young kids.  Having them posted on an adult site like that should be illegal as it was not condoned by me the parent.

I would recommend A4A members to check they do not mind their avatar being associated with the forementioned  website.  I have now had to change my avatar on the A4A forum to prevent my kids being abused in the way that they were.

(NB: This rant is not in any way aimed at the thread being posted on A4A.)

good idea, kt..many people have their children/grandchildren's pics on their avatars, done ours..didn't realise it was ongoing, don't mind a border being pornalized, noticed lots of children's pictures on there  ???

Ant

erm, that site doesn't hold any copies of your pictures, everything is done on the fly as the site loads. All it does is add and replace words.

Each time you click the link (or refresh) its completely different, showing nothing is being held.

The owners of the site would soon run out of server space if they were holding copies of everything

You are wrong Ant.   Your avatar picture/photo is on there too.   Click on a topic and you will see peoples so called responses with their avatar at the side.  It was there yesterday and it was still there this morning and is still there for all to see now.

If you really think that the site stores your posts, try accessing it using another website.  Then try to find your A4A postings.  You won't be able to.  Because they aren't there.

Ant & Melbourne, I do understand what you are saying and I am fully aware that it does change as posts are placed on here and on page refreshing.  As and when it changes, should you click on any topic shown on the cover page, there are still peoples photos within the thread at the side that some may not want to be displayed.  Not everyone will want to change their profile picture but would you really want your kids shown on a website for adult humour ::).

its not technically an adult website and someone can only see it as Allotments4all if they type that address in.

Of course it will render any links you click through the same update script it does to make the page in the first place.

I know what you mean about the association of pics of your kids and the content the site generates, but to most its just a funny site.

Anyone trawling the net for pictures of children wouldn't be doing so by typing random websites into pornlizer.

LOL, I understand perfectly what you mean, Ant, never fear!  ;D  For people of a non IT persuasion, it's harder to grasp what is meant but you did your best :)

Nothing personal, just looking out for the kids. Thats all.

The site in question is as Ant says, just a scrape site, you can enter any website you like on the frontpage of it, and it will add random rude words into sentances.

Even blogs!

I have removed links to the site from this thread, as some people choose not to view The Watershed, and I don't think the link should be shown in The Shed.

Great. Does that mean that my Avatar is no longer being abused 'out there'?
Not that it would ruffle me!

So no point in changing? And the new one wouldn't be hi-jacked?

I understand zilch!!

Hi, I am not sure what you are all talking about but I was advised a couple of weeks ago by someone not from here that it was a bad idea to show kiddie pictures. I therefore decided to err on the side of caution and I took off my granddaughter.

Oh good grief! Pleeease don't be ridiculous. This is an absurd overreaction. Whilst I understand the concerns, some people are commenting on things about which they have an astonishingly poor understanding.

Stand back, there's nothing to see!!! It's just a joke!

There is no "there" and "here" - it's simply a different window upon the same website. Nobody would end up seeing that (rather fruity) view of this site without intentionally clicking on a link with the word "pornalize" in it.
