great weekend - guess how much I spent!

Chuffed I am (despite the onset of a cold!)

Went out plant shopping with mum-in-law on satuday and came home with:

15 assorted hardy periennials (including aquilegias, campanulas, medicinal herbs, other cottage garden things)
three new herbs
another periennial
a native dogwood (quite a large one!)
six assorted marginals (including lobelia cardinalis and a blue iris)
a floating plant with big air traps (what is it called?)
a gorgeous red waterlilly (Froebeli or something!)
two pots of sweet peas
a verbena bonariensis (being as I lost my seedlings to dampening off)

But guess how much I spent and win some seeds!

Now that's my kinda weekend Aqui :D  Sounds as if you should have spent loads, but seeing as you are maybe bragging about how little you have spent - how about £10  ??? :)

I am impressed that you got so much Aqui, especially as in our aquatic shop, the average water lily comes in at 17 quid!  I want a little white one, but the purse won't open far enough just yet.  Did get 8 red comets for 9 quid though so now we have fish in the pond and they are all doing well.  PLus found 3 frogs yesterday and 2 were HUGE!

So, 15 perenials.... 15 quid?  A pound a plant??

EJ - I know - aquatic plants are so expensive. I wanted watermint and marsh marigolds, but both were too expensive. (£5 each - too much for me!)

One of my little toads has taken up residence in the top of my older compost heap. It's so cute - he's hollowed out a little nest right in the centre at the top and he likes to pretend I haven't seen him whenever I peep in. Found another one hiding under the edge of the pond liner. he tried to make a dash for it down between the soil and the liner down the side of the pond, so as Mr Aqui was about to dig in the liner there, I had to yank the poor thing out before he was buried alive. :o

Marsh marigold...I shall try and get you some as I have some in the garden - garden is a swamp 9 months of the year and concrete the rest, so it grows in my beds!  I have just moved a lump into the pond, and still have a little big left, tis only a wee bit though.  Mum has some in her pond and all being well we will be there at the weekend so I shall pinch a bit if you like and mail it to you.  PM me your addy if you are interested.  ;D

Less than a pound a plant!  12 quid then?  ::)
