autumn raspberries

looking for any hints and tips people have when planting autumn raspberries - hopefully gona get them planted this weekend, weather permitting - so would be glad of any hints that are out there.

If they are autumn bliss they will not need much support.

got two varieties from thomson & morgan - autumn bliss and allgold, both state that they dont need support

They will need some support, just not in the same way as summer canes. I  find they grow so vigourously that they over hang the surrounding area and it can be difficult getting between the rows to pick the fruit. So I tend to use stakes on the corners of the beds and attach wires or long stout bamboo canes to the stakes. This keeps the canes more upright and keeps them off the surrounding paths.

In fact i am currently building new raised beds for my autumn raspberries. I have designed them with corner stakes built into the beds by using extra long stakes for the corner posts of the beds.
