azada alternative

thought there might be some interest in this - dont know what the qualities like as ive not bought one, but came across this Chillington Type hoe in the draper online catalogue
more than likely not as heavy duty as the ones from get digging, but might be a cheap alternative for this with a tighter budget

It's the Spanish term, which is much used round here.

I thought a mattock was a heavy tool on a pickaxe handle with a spike on the back, while a digging hoe was lighter, had a longer handle, and lacked the spike. Mattocks are used for bashing holes through tree roots, etc, hoes for turning soil. But local usages differ.

The Italians on my site call it a Zapper, a mate at work gave one to me, it has a spike at one end and a azada type tool at the other end only smaller.  ;D ;D ;D

That's really good value it is much like the azada I bought and less than half the price. I have a mattock as well (grubber where I come from!) and I use them for different things. The mattock for heavy work on uncultivated ground the azada works better on previously cultivated ground and is really good at chopping off large weeds at ground level.

ive used mine to peel back the turf on the over grown allotment i took over, rather than digging them in i skimmed the surface and stuck those in the compost bin
