Very sadly I think we are going to have to excercise some EXTREME patience  :'(

The ****ing post is at it again!  Guys the postal strikes are going to hit every week for 24-48 hours starting on the 4th  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Whoever receives it might do well to check this before going back to the post!!  It would be too sad to contemmplate for it to go missing now  :-\

I picked it up from the sorting office this morning (haven't had a chance to open it yet though) since I had heard the strike was starting at midday today and lasting till Saturday. So it's safe for the moment. Should I wait until Monday then send it on? Or is there likely to be a log-jam of letters? Maybe there's some other carrier I could use?

cambourne7

yes i would hang on to it, the news is saying it will take a week to clear the backlog.

Just bear in mind that it'll be worth the wait - and maybe it'll be the bills that get lost in the general confusion  ;D

On the news they said it would probably take till the 15th to clear the backlog, so I'd say hang on to it till then. There is, after all, no hurry is there?

Tricia
Who, like everyone else on the list, can't wait to get her hands on the parcel  ;D

Emagggie

I'm away for 2 weeks from 8th Oct., so bypass me and put me further  down if neccessary.
Smile, it confuses people.

If E-J is away that means I am next on the list - te he - can't wait for the mailman's knock on my door  ;D.

I've already done a lot of sorting for goodies to add.

OK so when do I post it? Can't do it tomorrow but anytime Wednesday if you think it is safe?

tricia

Heard on the TV tonight that there are millions of pieces of mail stacked up not even sorted yet  >:(, so I'd wait a couple of days if I were you grawc. There is no real hurry - just impatience to see the goodies  :P.

Whoops!! Got you confused with Emaggie - sorry E-J. - of course you are next on the list, not me.

All this anticipation is bound to make for fuzzy brains :o ::) ;D

Well it's on its way to Emma Jane. I sent it first class and recorded delivery so fingers crossed. The reference number is DL 3350 1229 9GB so it should be possible to track its progress online. It also means that if it gets lost we are covered up to £34 - nowhere near what it would cost to replace the contents but better than nothing.

...as i have been doing driving very late at night monday all the trucks i had seen are either royal mail, tnt or that american one in brown vans. So i guess that they were still moving some post.

Hubbie tells me we got one delivery of post this week (yesterday) and the post was all postmarked from a day before the first strike. Mother in law has had no post :(

Post in Birmingham seems to be back to normal, but i gather it's still mayhem in london.
