I played flute and piano to a reasonable standard, playing in school and youth orchestras, then lack of practice and children caused fingers to slow down!  I still play though,  and then four years ago started to take up the oboe. Now that IS a challenge - does anybody else play?  I play in a chamber music group, as well as as a "harmonie" - band - http://www.harmonierognonaise.com and music has become a very important part of our family - my two daughters play now too.

The hard part as always - finding time to practice!

My wife was an opera singer. (Now retired, apart from the odd 'old folks' concert.) I've spent my life surrounded by highly talented musicians and my own talents only go as far as being able to play a few scales on the piano! (I can follow a score, though.)

Self and OH both play guitar. We have seven guitars between us and no free cupboard space.

I can play recorder and flute, any sizes, also OK on saxophone - sounds like we have a great ensemble between us all.

As for names:

The Potterers
Dirty Diggers
Shed 7 (hasn't somebody recently calledc themselves that - are they allotmenteers?)

I can do the black note thingy on the piano (chopsticks?) - thats about it.
Wasn't very good at recorder.
Small person likes his "drum kit" (mixing bowl, saucepan lid, biscuit tins...) which he plays while watching Animusic ( http://www.animusic.com/ ). Last week, we were thinking of getting a children's drum kit for him!!!!
We have a USB keyboard too for him to play on.

I'm currently learning guitar (trying to anyway! - anyone got any useful hints and tips?) and I used to play trumpet and clarinet.

Shed 7 are fab!  Been around ages, just touring again, go see them if they're near you!

Thank you to all who donated to the Moonlight Half Marathon Walk in aid of St Catherine's Hospice - my mum and I raised just over £300!!!    ............     Thanks!  :-)

I used to play the flute, but it's years since I've played, can still get a note out of it, but can't remember the fingering.  Might pick it up again one day when I have more time!

FANTASTIC playlist Biscombe  ;D

I saw the Cure in 19 hundred and something other .. in a Roman amphitheatre in the South of France. The build-up to the gig was FANTASTIC! Hundreds of Robert Smith fans shaking their hairstyles in the light-show - a veritable FEAST of hairspray and black hair-dye.

And then .... Robert launched himself onto the stage. He'd had all his hair shaved off. Oh how I laughed  ;D

I played clarinet as a yoof. Reached the giddy heights of being a member of Chesterfield Intermediate orchestra. Left aforementioned orchestra because they'd never heard of Acker Bilk and wouldn't know what 'jazz' was if it jumped up and bit them on the nipple.

Tried to teach myself saxaphone but the dog was having NONE of it! Howling and wailing and eventually he chewed up my collection of Cure records.

He's on borrowed time.
The Devil Invented Dandelions!

Awwwwwwww! Trix!! that dog!!!!! Replaced your Cure collection yet??

I played piano as a youngster, mainly classical,  got to Grade 5 when my music teacher died so did not continue.   Years later bought a keyboard which is great as there are so many backing rhythms to play around with so now I can turn my hand to latin, dicso, big band, rock & roll etc.  Cheating a bit I suppose  but it's great fun and the dogs love it!!! ;D
Happy gardening all...........Pat
