I learned to play the piano when young - gave it up......had more lessons years and years later but had to get rid of piano when moving, as not enough room to house it......have always wanted to give it another go - can still cope with right hand ok but struggle with left and putting them together nowadays ???

my brother, also learned, stopped when young but took it up again and later became a music teacher, then let it drop again but now is retaking exams all over again & loving every minute of it.....he also plays, violin, recorder and cello....he's the one with the talents :)

Hot Potato   I have the same problem as you.  I took piano lessons for years when I was a lass and after years of leaving it alone I tried to read and play on an organ and I couldnt read the left hand and play.  I wish I had stuck to my music.  My Mother was the musician in the family and played one of her organs to her last days.

I can play a CD. Does that count? ;D ;D ;D

I made it once to first violins in a youth orchestra. Ask me what the strings are on a violin or ask me to read music-  I can't now.

I play too many and it gets in the way of everything else :)  I play to varying degrees of incompetence, guitar, bass, tinwhistle, mandolin, melodeon and bandoneon.  I can get a tune out of others ( and I own some more) but those are the main culprits!

All the best

Oh I am so jealous now. I always wanted to learn piano but I was the youngest.  My brother was given money for lessons and he skipped off, then my sister was allowed  and she did the same thing. when I asked I was tols Oh no we ahve tried that before, so I had to keep on dancing.

Mind you I still have tap shoes and can still do it.. does tapping count??

I play the Cornet and am a member of www.flixtonband.org.uk. I also play the piano, not regularly though anymore. I used to play piano to a reasonable standard, but now whenever I play it really makes my brain ache!

I play the flute - played in the school orchestra many years ago, and also since then in a couple of ad hoc ensembles.  And I learnt the piano at the same time, but didn't really take to it that much.   :) :)
