Quickie as a slightly different salad one, Chop toms, sprinkle with olive oil, oregano, salt and pepper and add a bit of fine grated parmesan.

I put a Bruschetta recipe on a couple of weeks ago.

Large ones are good  stuffed with ham, celery cucumber green onions(all chopped) mixed with mayo salt and pepper topped with toasted slivered almonds.

Ours go in sauces, on pizza, and we make a tomato jam sometimes.

Sorry forgot the soup.

This makes a good condensed one you can freeze.

71/2 pounds chopped toms
3 chopped medium onions
6 chopped celery sticks
4 whole cloves
1 bay leaf
6 parsley sprigs
1/2 cup butter
6 tablespoons plain flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons salt
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Combine first 6 ingredients in large pan , bring to boil, lower heat ans simmer fot 2 hours, discard bay leaf and cloves, run through blender, then strain to remove seeds,

Melt butter in a pan stir in remaining ingredients to make a roux add some strained soup to make a mix, pour into soup, boil till thick.

Freeze in measured amoints.

To serve, add  1 cup of milk to 1 cup of tomato mix and a tiny pinch on bicarb of soda, heat till very hot.
When God blesses you with a multitude of seeds double  the blessing by sharing your  seeds with other folks.

Thanks Jeannine. It was me who asked for the Brucsheta recipe, very nice too although next time i shall drain the excess juice off the tomatoes before serving[it made the bread a bit soggy]. You've got me there Tim whats that? If its a Tomato recipe yes please.

Modified 'Greek' Salad: add cucumber and mint to the usual tomato, onion, feta and basil (forget olives if like me you don't like them).

What about Jamie's tonight? Is that really his garden & does he really do it all??

i think his gardner, Brian, does it all - did look wonderful though & I liked the recipes too.  Just wish I had a glut of tomatoes - I've got some but am throwing away twice as many as I'm able to keep. BLIGHT Also decided I want a wood oven.  :)

He was on "Richard & Judy" today. Apparently it is his garden and Brian did all the gardening till recently. He now has a new gardener who is 'lovely'. His tomato recipes really made me think I could do some of them - if only I had the tomatoes  :(. Lost most of mine to blight and the rest are ripening just one at a time.......oh well, there is always next year!

'And the band played believe it you like'.

Personally, I think there is no bandwagon that these so called 'celebrity chefs' are not prepared to jump on, particularly when it comes to 'growing your own'.

Not one of them has ever got their hands dirty in the process.

Some of us out here have been growing fruit and veg longer than JO has been on the planet.  All of a sudden, he's a horticultural expert.

TV dumbing down - treating the viewers like morons - yes.  If you're daft enough to watch any of these programmes!!
