winter salad

thought i would have go at salad leaves either under cloches or greenhouse or both just ordered some seed from dobies that they reckon is suitable
what are other peeps experiences of these? has anybody managed to have fresh leaves all through winter? and how?

For winter crops, I would go for the likes of alfalfa cress, daikon radish, red cabbage, onions, etc in a sprouter.

They are tasty, easy to grow, and trouble free.

yep, we do oriental greens and winter lettuce, can't say we get greens all winter but a good part of it, especially if it's mild like last year  ;D

Did well with oriental veg last year as well, kept them going for most or the winter under fleece.

My orientals all get eaten by slugs... but endive and chicory do well...

Winter Lettuce under environmesh:
Bronze Arrow and Merveille de Quatre Saisons. Both did very well, but we are in London so a bit warmer than most of UK.

Have grown Bronze arrow succesfully in a cold greenhouse in Derby...

In Glasgow, I sow some winter leaves into a large container, and when I have some space in the Greenhouse in October, transfer the box into the greenhouse for the winter.
