Gauze? If it's only anti-bird, 10mm netting would do & be stronger & let the rain in more easily. And might be cheaper - don't know.

Well Tim-at the time of your post I was in the garden and loving it------------then when I went to water the smaller greenhouse I noticed a snail had eaten all but two of the zinnias and a load of baby basil plants-it really does get a bit soul destroying :'(

The perks living down South - warmer weather, longer planting and harvesting spell, quicker harvesting times. Guess us in the North are still a way off spuds flowering. Looking fine my good man, looking fine. ;)

I do like this weather but for some reason I can't seedlings in pots as they tend to die on me. I think I over water.

Yes Tim, this time of year is absolutely addictive... I just can't keep away from my plot...my fingers are aching with weeding though. But this is the best year for early growth since I started on this plot 6 years ago... absolutely everything is growing!!

I am still earthing up spuds though because I didn't plant any earlies, just maincrops and pink fir apples (which I adore). Usually the pinks are behind the mains but this year they are keeping up, so will have loads of delicious salad spuds too! Shame that fir apples don't store though! Still my motto if they don't store is "who cares... just dig and nosh!"

I look like I have been in a battle today though as I weeded round the gooseberries and raspberries and was down on my knees trying to get all the horrible weeds out from under and forgot there were trimmings off the bushes from last year and kept grabbing thorns... ouch!  Will remember from now on that when I trim them, I must dispose of them!!

BTW, can someone please tell me how to post images to this forum. There used to be an option to 'browse for' and upload images under Additional Options but I can't see it anymore.The 'insert image' tag makes no sense to me.
