Ohhhhhhhhhh, I just love the red ones.
Such a pretty basket.
I tried to grow red nasturtiums many times, I even got seeds from England called red empress or something like that. One or two would get red flowers and all the rest turned out to be orange.
The common Dutch name for nastrutiums is East Indian cherry.
Did you sow these? Mine are not half as far as yours, not even flower buds yet.

Gardengirl

Yes Ina I did sow them - I think it was some time in March. It was a packet of mixed colours.  Round the other side of the basket there are some of an antique gold colour. They are lovely aren't they, just keep blooming and blooming.   Only thing is you have to watch out for the dreaded black fly >:(  The photo doesn't do them justice really, the leaves are variagated which makes them look even better.

It is the dreaded cabbage white catapiller that always gets mine Pat.  Have given up this year  as they where decimated last year.  Yours look gorgeous though. ;D
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

I stopped growing them for the self same reason Mimi.Covered in caterpillars they were.Hope that you dont get them Pat as they make such a nice display.
Earth fills her lap with treasures of her own.

That sure is a wonderful sight g.g. well done you - they look great in a basket too....I used to love growing them over a low retaining wall - a real picture.....

Wonderul.  Funny, I would never think of nasts in a hanging basket, but why not, they drape down beautifully and the colour of those flowers is wonderful!  Was a great decision Gardengirl!  ;D
