My OH and I have different views on our pond! I wanted it to be a purely wildife pond with no fish, while he wanted fish. Since he'd done all the grafting, I let him get two goldfish, thinking they wouldn't last long. This was three years ago (I think) and they are now about 4" long and thriving. >:( How much longer will they live? Do I need to start attracting the local cats? ;D

or a heron, there's one comes over our house to a neighbours pond, it's eaten all but 3 of his fish, don't know how you attract them, though  ;D

Maureen was 24 when she passed away (sigh)...had turned completely silver in her extreme old age......she lived indoors, so no herons. Used to frighten the cat tho ;D

We moved to our house in 1983 and still have three fish from the original thirteen! They must be all males or all females as no offspring for years (unless they've eaten them!)  :)
If I ever get it all right - then that's the time to quit.

My Mum has 2 of her originals in the pond, and we worked out the other day they are 22 years old!! (called Kingy and Queeny! :o) They have produced many an offspring and in fact I had to reduce the number in her pond when we tried to count and got up to 50, have pulled out at least 50 fish, and there are still about 30 left! ;D
We don't inherit the earth, we only borrow it from our children.
