Ok, come on we haven't had a real big laugh for a few days.. so Fess up.

What was the daftest  gardening thing you ever did?

I have two.

I direct sowed squash  every six inches along the row, with rows a foot apart, about 6 rows worth  I just kept going till the very 1/4 ounce big packet ran out.

An even earlier than that. I sowed broad beans, the first thing I ever grew. I looked  at them every day talked to them, nurtured them to the point of obsession. One day I looked out of the window, shouted out loud, picked up a sweeping brush and charged out screaming like  a banshee waving the brush at the plants like a lunatic then I realised they were covered in black and white flowers not cabbage white butterflies. In my haste to save my babies I had completely forgotten I had a houseful of church ladies and a minister  in to tea.

we used to grow veggies in the back garden, every winter we had a 'bonfire night party'..we managed to cook the cabbage and sprouts in the ground ,as the lads decided to have a bonfire on our veg patch   ;D

Planting out Garlic, went on to put out the Shallots - at the same depth!

25 (smallish) bulbs per plant!!

So far this year has been sowing 40 odd seeds of gardeners delight, when still had another 5 varieties of toms to sow. They all came up and was so chuffed that didn't have the heart to get rid of some. My downstairs bathroom is now my unofficial greenhouse until I can find homes for the ones I don't need!

Unfortunately our dormer roof has blown off again and when insurance peeps came round to look at the damage think they were convinced that they were an altogether different type of plant! Got some very funny looks and the childish side of me won out, so didn't explain what they were. ;D
Smile at your enemies.

It makes them wonder what you are up to.
