Nice link Tim. I remember seeing it growing on a TV programme some years ago. Fascinating - if a little scary!

btw.....what's everyone's fave rhubarb please?

Mrs Ava

My bub isn't growing yet.  Should I cover a crown now or wait until actual growth is under way?

caroline7758

Looked this up the other day & fairly sure it said to cover when you could see the first growth.

Mrs Ava

aha, thanks caroline.  I will take a bucket up when I go just in case.

apparently im now in the ranks of "rhubarb forcers".was on the plot today and was suprised to see the wifes grandad...............(who was supposed to be holding my fence posts straight)..........chucking a tin bucket over my sprouting crowns........
when he`d explained what he was doing and why i reconsidered my opinion that he`d lost it.and was trying to kill my plants!
