The children go back to school tomorrow and I have promised myself a full day on the plot for some r&r that only digging my own ground can do.  Have checked metcheck, and although cloudy all day, it should be dry.  Keeping fingers and toes crossed very tightly (which is making hoovering a little uncomfortable!)

My 2 went back today. Son is only at nursery so I only managed 1 & 1/2hrs only. Better than nothing. Will get same tomorrow providing weather is ok here too. Its too cold to have him there with me all day.  :(
All you do and all you see is all your life will ever be

we're aiming on going tomorrow the weather, depending on which forecast you watch, is drizzly rain and wind, dry and wind, showers and wind, so we'll get up in the morning and look out of the window,
I think we'll be going anyway, feel the need, the family's all gone back to their own homes so, a bit of fresh !! air and excercise, well, sort of, will do us both good,

bought the onions from b&q this morning, a mushroom kit half price and the rooster from the garden centre, 2x5kilo for £8.00, will do us three years  ;D ;D

Better than nothing KT.  I know what you mean scousers.  After being with the urchins and family for a couple of weeks, I really feel the need to let of some steam, get a cold face, that lovely fresh feeling, drink tea from my flask and breath some fresh, clean air!  The bonus being I will come home with lots of lovely winter veg to make stew with on Friday!  ;D

Cor, had a great day on the plot.  Photos will be on my blog later on this evening....but the wind had taken it's toll on the plot so I spend a large part of the morning staking sprouts and purple sprouting broc, then generally tidying up.  Then a grim discovery....I have known ever since I had the shed that I wasn't the only one using it...well today, rat poop all over the floor.  As I haven't been in for a good few weeks and I guess as it has been cold, then have come in and made themselves at home....so, emptied out the shed, binned all the rotten netting and fleece, blocked up the holes in the floor (well it was a 2nd hand shed) and made it look lovely.  The afternoon was spent digging, finishing off with continuing to rebuild the fruit cage.  Busy busy, I am knackered, but thrilled with what I achieved today.

I've finally given in and thrown the tiny swede out, ray spent the day moving muck and swapping one compost heap over in to the other, he had a ball !!, I weeded said swede patch and just breathed in fresh air, my cold's on the way out now, thank goodness, AGM on saturday so that'll be fun.  :)oh, I forgot, also he cleared out the rat run in the compost heap at the same time , yeuck, I steered clear of that !!

I get rats all over my shed every winter, the only way I can keep them down is with poison. It's on its last legs anyway, and I'm planning the next one on piles so they won't be able to nest underneath. That should put them off.

piles of what ?, I'm fascinated  ;D, or do you mean piles of poison,

I presume he means things like breeze block stacks?
But piles of poison should do the trick too... I only get mice in my potato store but got two dozen already... which reminds me I haven't been out to check for a couple of days...
Yep got another one, and his mates have helpfully eaten the bait so I know I will get another one tomorrow, I exaggerated though, he's only number 22...
;D

Don't know 'til I tun my compost if I have company there, but the moles have been very busy. They are making a good job of creating a fine tilth. ;D
Hope to get some more straw down tomorrow and finish the edging.
Not been very productive lately as I have a poorly hand, but on a lovely day like today I just felt I had wasted it. Going tomorrow come hell or high water. ;D
Smile, it confuses people.

I knew someone would ask. Breeze blocks is it, probably on top of paving slabs so as to spread the weight. Then old sleepers or something of the sort on top of those.
