We lost out internet connection on Sunday 15th October die to the company we were with going bust.  We have had a succession of companies, each one selling out to the next - we have had rubbish correspondance and as a result we have had a lot of free broadband airtime.  However, at last, we are back up and running.  So, what does a girl do when she has no internet connection?  I made my Christmas cake - a womens institute recipe - delicious smelling but it had to cook for 8 hours!!  Mum has given me the Mrs Beetons Christmas book, and her cake recipe also sounds fab, so I think I am going to make another.  My cakes tend to travel with me over the festive period so I normally need one that is huge, so 2 smaller ones would be perfect.  Went to the allotment and edged both plots, dug them over in preperation for my onion sets (thanks Jim!!  :-*) and generally had a good tidy up.  Had number one sons 6th birthday party - a painless event as we had it at the local Wacky Warehouse where the kids have an hour in the playcentre, then their meals, then home with a goodbag, all supplied by them.  Then a rather frightening event.....................................Last Monday I began to feel odd.  To be honest, I hadn't been feeling myself for a few days and I am a worrier. So Monday night I worried and worried and started to convince myself I was on the border of having a heart attack.  I had pains in my arm, became short of breath, hot pain between my shoulder blades and felt faint.  I have frequently suffered high blood pressure so thought I was heading off to meet my maker!  Went to Broomfield A&E and with my symptoms and family history, was rushed straight through to resus and had an ECG.  My heart was racing and my blood pressure was sky high, but no signs of a heart attack.  They took blood - which took 5 attempts as I have rubbery veins, and being needle phobic, you can imagine my joy - and the increasing height of my blood pressure!  Then I had a chest x-ray.  They tested me for blood clots and this and that and the other.........and a lovely doctor very sympathetically told me, I am as fit as a fit thing could possibly be!  I had brought on a panic attack, which is very frightening!  Go home, rest, enjoy life, get the blood pressure down by reducing the salt and caffine and spend more time on the allotment!!!  ;D  Went to the GP's on the hossies advice, and my blood pressure is now normal for my age, and they are happy, and I am happy, although I do have to go back in 2 weeks for another check.  So, next time my internet connection goes down, I will take up cross stitch!

Glad all is well now Emma. I did ask about you but I think it was Carol who said you had been having internet problems..
Take it easy, easier said than done sometimes. but as my old ma-in-law used to say "Good people are scarce" you have been missed.

Aww, thanks folks.  The panic attack was my own making, and upon chattering to my really lovely new GP, we decided that as you know, dads birthday recently passed, and that, combined with the general frantic lifestyle I tend to lead finally took it's toll.  What is really brilliant is being told that there is nothing wrong with you!  I am a born worrier, and always assume something is wrong, but no!  However, I will probably get hit by a bus now!!  :o

I received your PM Lorna - thanks, tis very exciting and I am very jealous of your travels.  I would love to see some photos, do you think you can email them??

lorna

Emma. Georgie kindly told me how to attach photos to Pm's which I will have to practice but if you don't mind me having your email address I will certainly send the pics. Perhaps you could PM me your email address.
