Hi

i've had 3 this week, have about 40 in total to munch through, probably won't bother freezing them.

The runner beans have gone mad and I've just spotted the first mini butternut squash, got to be carefully not to tread on them.

Picked my first dozen corns on Saturday morning and had them with the family that evening.  They were all very impressed and the taste is so much sweeter and richer than shop bought corn.  Lots still to come, and this lovely rain we have had will certainly help!

wow wow showing off EJ ;D
Mines won't be ready for another week yet >:( >:( Do you have some spare that I can try ;D ;D

Mine was still a bit pale when I looked the other day - will take anothe peek tomorrow.  Some of mine has been dragged down by my Blue Lakes Beans that I was told were a short climber.  Not very short climbing up my corn and have pulled the corn over to share my runner frame.

Can you tell me how to check they're ripe?

I have some which I think are ready but can't remember if they're ripe when they juice runs clear or milky.....?

Thanks for your help

John  ;D

Mrs Ava

As far as I know, milky juice.  Also, the tastles on mine were dry and crispy, the cobs were filled to the end, and they were lovely and bright yellow.

Thanks EJ...I'll take some off and give them a go

:D

The sooner they are eaten after picking the sweeter they are.

microwave with 2 tablespoons of water (cover with pierced cling film) for 3 mins.

dunk in butter and enjoy.

Fast Food eh

supersprout

I put them in the m'wave with their leaves on, nuke for 2 mins, and chop top and bottom off (easier to remove damp red hot leaves) ::)

Curryandchips

I microwave them at work for my breakfast, with a bit of fresh chopped tomato and onion. The envious look on my colleagues faces is wonderful  :D

Mmmm...

Sounds like a good idea.

how long in the microwave?

Curryandchips

Two minutes for a medium microwave, to do one large sweetcorn, two tomatoes and one small onion ... (it is only heating them up really)
