Some of you asked about the red broad beans I have grown this year.  The are called Red Epicure and are from Unwins.

The packets says that the chestnut crimson beans retain their striking colour if lightly steamed rather than boiled and have a taste to be unequalled.  Can be sown in the autumn or spring - I sowed in the spring in newspaper pots.  I have half a packet of seeds left which will do me fine for next season, but I fancy trying the red flowered varieties also.  ;D

Thanks for including me in, Emma!!

blisters

How does the taste compare to the normal beans?

Mrs Ava

I will have to let you know blisters.  As we weren't around for the weekend, I froze them quickly to keep them as sweet and plump as possible.  I am back on the plot tomorrow and fingers crossed, will be able to harvest another load, and as I have a nice plump chook in the fridge, I will certainly have some for supper tomorrow night...then I will report back!  ;D

Multiveg

Ooo, might add them to a seed wishlist!
