oooooh, I am sooooo envious ;D, we're not allowed sprinklers or hosepipes, I so wish I could go out there and drench my garden and allotment, it's like a dust bowl around here.

;D Well with the heat here in sunny Brum 27.8°C (82°F) our maximum so far in our garden, I would have welcomed a cold shower in the great outdoors, too hot for the Lottie today. 8) ;D

MrsKP

i'm using it as much as i can before they decide to stick it in all tankers and sell it to England !!!!

i'm not going to go berserk with it but it's a nice luxury to have while i can ........ and it's fun !!!

;D  I have done silly things like that, and end up yelping!  ;D

Arid Essex doesn't have a hosepipe ban yet as our reservoires are still 90% full, which is fine until they flog it all to Thames Water!  However, I am recycling water, saving all I can into buckets, watering cans, and 6 pint plassy milk pollies.  Grey water is going on my flowers in pots, fresh water for my veggies in pots.  The allotment seems to be okay - the rain we had at the start of last week was amazing and the ground is still incredibly damp just an inch down!

tim

Someones's doing good, because No1 Son sat next to the Thames chappie last week & he said that consumption has dropped by 15%.

But SO much else could be done to save? Like do you run the tap when you're brushing your teeth - etc??

I'm waiting for some Scottish Spring Water!! I do use it in my Scotch!!

Not with an electric toothbrush, I don't! Couldn't possibly imagine standing still for 2 minutes :o.....so, load up toothbrush, switch on, wander into the study, switch on PC, look at OE mails,  into the kitchen, open fridge door, look to see if the Food Fairies have put anything nice in the fridge since last night (live in hope on that one ;))....go to the front door, pick up post and shout goodmorning to Ken the postie, back to the bathroom...then I turn on the tap, and by this time my teeth look like this ;D

MrsKP

snap Lish.  can't stand still with an electric toofbrush.

often come and sit back down here to see if there's some silly idiot up at the same time as me.

And is there? And do they have an electric toofbrush too? Can anyone stand still with a lectric toofbrush?

oh and btw....nice new shower you got KP ;D

Mrs Ava

I am a manual toothbrusher.  I figure I use at least 4 calories an hour doing it manually!  ;D  Well, every little helps. ;D ;D

Nope, tap off, when waiting for hot water to fill the sink, the cold goes into those plassy bottles (thanks Aqui!), when boiling veg or eggs or whatever, decanted water goes into watercan, when cleaning out fishtanks, all the water goes onto the plants in the conservatory and never down the drain.  The kids have to take bottles of water to school every day, and when they get home, they know to empty the water out onto the pots around the front door!  Waste not want not!  ;D

Ooooh Tim that is an absolute bug bear of mine...running tap whilst brushing teeth, why do people do that??!!!   Have my eight year old and three year old well versed in conserving water. If they leave it running they'll hear "TAP!" from somewhere within the house and they don't start dancing!

Tim and EJ who are the little cuties in your avatars?  Lovely pictures, make me feel all smiley  ;D

Don't have a fish tank anymore and I'm sure my pots miss it!  I once was hosing down a mega tank I had with a hose pipe and squirted myself with it...fish poo aint nice...yeeeuk!

Is the water tank thingy from the tumble dryer ok to use? I use it anyway but have always wondered if it would have any washing powder/conditioner in it? Surely it will be rinsing water??

My daughter did that looking at the end of the hosepipe thing whilst turning it on the other day.  She got a big fright and was not impressed! "Waaaaaaahhhhh!" (Was funny though!)

Leccy toothbrush...before mine conked out I would wander about looking out of windows until I noticed my kids started to wander about too whilst doing their teeth manually...drips of toothpaste everywhere and me with not a leg to stand on re telling them to stand at the sink hehehe!

Mrs Ava

Heldi, mine is number one son picking strawbs on the plot.  Bless him!

Twice after watering the plot, I have forgotten to release the pressure before taking the spray-nozzle-whatsit thingy with the different spray-patterns off and got a face full.

Hubby leaves taps on while brushing teeth - he says he has sensitive teeth and uses the hot water - after taking little one to school and trundling into town, I came back after 2 hours (son only in school from 9-11am) and found hot water tap still running  >:(

The friends who relocated to Thailand are threatening a visit (like I don't know when they're arriving - or for how long they intend to stay :o) tell you what, tho, they're gonna just love water.....proper, safe, water. Water you can wash & cook veggies in, water you can make tea with,  water from the tap you can drink, water you can wet your toothbrush with & rinse, oh! and the water supply to the WC.....no more little buckets to put the used toilet paper in, cos the system won't flush it away....

How lucky we are, even with hosepipe bans.
