Feeling happier with/in the Garden

With all the cold weather this spring I have gotten a 'bit' behind and have been feeling a 'up against it', with piles of prunings, mess and jobs to do everywhere. It was hard to feel optimistic and think the garden would ever look good by summer.

Today though has been a good one, I have managed to make real in roads, gotten rid of rubbish and shredded up all the prunings, making the garden look a lot lot better. Its not perfect, and theres still penty to do, but at least I dont now walk up the garden and see all the piles of stuf to get rid of, and can concentrate on sprucing the rest of it up.

Does anyone else have spells like this then after one good days work, it all seems ten times better?

Was having a good grin reading your post gc, definitely works that way for me. This morning the car wouldn't start, and in the 90 minutes it took for AA to find us and get us going we'd done garden jobs that have been hanging over our heads for weeks. Including some very quick tidying of old branches and twigs which oddly makes a big difference - can see piles of potential now, rather than piles of last year's rubbish. ;D ;D ;D

That principle does apply for me Garden Cadet, although today was the obverse ...
Yesterday was a very successful day, plenty of planting and ground preparation. Today however, the weather turned decidely wintery, and I left after planting one row of potatoes and another of salsify, and spending a good hour huddled in a friends shed ...
The impossible is just a journey away ...

I had a 'shredding session last week' ... about 16 miles of privet cuttings and 14 tonnes of apple tree prunings went through it. Strangely satisfying and almost addictive  ;D

We also has our 1st 'allotment working party' meet yesterday - volunteers get together to help clear up the site/do jobs etc. We went litter picking round the avenues and generally tidied everything up and it looks LOADS better!

I went round with my litter bag singing The Wombles theme tune but I don't think the other working party members appreciated it  ::)

It really does make a difference when things are tidy though doesn't it  :)

It sure does. Although it probably wont be long before it gets messed up again. That part of the garden tends to be a bit of a 'dumping ground' you see. (Well things like that have to go somewhere dont they?)

Glad to see I am not alone. The most satisfying thing of all is that up until yesterday the shredder didnt work properly and I hadnt used it for ages because of it. However I decided i couldnt do without it any longer and resolved to try and sort it out. In the end a simple case of cleaning and sharpening the blades and all was fine again. Marvelous!

Well today is my day, whatever the weather!  Nuts to the housework, the kids know where I am, they have the computer on, TV on, garden toys across the lawn so they can come and go as they please!  They have been fed and watered, and i have just filled my watering can up, and can't find the darn rose, so I can water my babies in the greenhouse, before having a good old tidy and sort.  Planting number one daughters sweetcorn today...early I know, but I have fleece, and it is in a sheltered corner.....  Have a good day everyone! ;D
