very intersting Adam, thanks!

Doris_Pinks

Adam we watched a programme on it the other night, interesting stuff, still don't know if you would get me on one though, maybe if I went free 1st class!!

Well hoping they have one for the Farnborough Airshow this year as one is rumoured to be doing a flyby there.

oly thing that concerns me is its emergency landing. its meant to need a runway at least 150ft and preferably 200ft wide. Now that rules out most airports in the UK.

That would be my concern too Adam. Liked DottyP's comment tho.....if she's gonna go she'll go 1st class.......now that's style ;D ;D ;D

adam04

o yes, and the wake!!!  thats a big thing....ever seen what a ferry does to dingy when it goes past it??   imagine that only in the sky  :D

Hyacinth

I've seen Accident Investigation pix of what a helicopter propeller did to a Service  Engineer who walked into it in the '60s.......salami didn't come near it.....more like the 'reclaimed meat' JamieO talked about to the schoolkids.... :o :'(

grawrc

Scarey stuff Adam. Huge and no doubt consuming vast quantities of fuel and what happens if it crashes. How many fatalities. How many flights have passenger lists of 800? I speak from a stance of total ignorance. :-[ :-[

Hyacinth

Graw, passenger lists are (& will be?) comprehensive........however they're gonna process all the passengers tho? A long, long, long, long queue ...

I remember these quesions being asked about the new Jumbo - at the time such a huge aircraft with an upstairs?!

An what happens if it crashes & I'm on board? Same as would happen to me if I was on board a smaller aircraft I'd think...... ::)  (not rolling eyes, but looking up to heaven ;D)

when my time's up...

adam04

im guessing that it will be the safest plane in aviation. usually new aircraft are. infact the 777, is currently the safest in aviation.

As you say though when it does crahs and it will, most planes do, it will cause deaths,. just im guesisng in that time there will be two or mor eJumbo crashes, costing the same amount of lives. Just give and take.

im a big fan of it so far. if you can ship nearly 900 people across the pond, which would usualyl take 2 jumbos, then it is more efficient.

i had a lot of conerns at first. weights etc, as a lo0ng time fan of aviation and i read a lot into the stuff, you wouldnt even think of some of the concerns that the 380 faced, but a lot of it has been clared up and prooved succesful. So. keep it rolling....

MrsKP

scary as this is, i have no idea what you're talking about and no desire to know either.  :o

i focus on immediate need to know these days, anything else just takes up unessary brain space.  is that wrong ?

you shoukd know. this is a new, very big aircraft, Just like the 747 (Jumbo jet) but the whole second level carries all the way across the plane. So really its a double decker aircraft. its goooooddddd.

Click the links above and seee

MrsKP

i did click on all the links but with the sound down, so didn't hear the commentary.  just looked like a plane  ::)

am i ever going on it ? no.   would i think it was a good idea ? no.

i can get by without it. yes.  glad i know something new today ? yes.

shrugging shoulders

sorry, not excited, it doesn't breath.

tut, you disappoint me. its likely in the future, if all goes well for Airbus and i hope it does, you will use he A380 on a permanent basis for long haul journeys, and much more comfort one will have!

i wont.  possibly other people will do.  maybe its cos i've done a bit of travelling, that i'd rather spend time here now.

i've become a bit of a home bird.  and think that big flying things chucking out crap all over the sky is unecessary, to me anyway.

just thought  , run back from the little girl's room to edit (i do my best thinking there), i suppose i was excited about concorde when it was launched, i spent an awful amount of time wishing i could travel on it.  i never did and now it's withdrawn and i'll never fly on it.  i'll never get on this one either, so it might be a feat of wonderul engineering but i don't see how it's relevant.

any better than a million cars stuck in a traffic jam, for an hour. plus th eproblems caused by crashes etc from cars.....

i think if you weight it up,  probably not much different

MrsKP

aye, you're probably right looking at the bigger picture.  but i spend more time these days thinking about uses for a 2ltr empty bottle of irn bru than i do, how fast i could get to say Aus  ;D
