Best things come to those who wait

I joined the waiting list three years ago for the local allotments, and was told I was sixth in the waiting list.  After yearly begging calls to the local committee, I have just been told that I have secured my very first plot.

I have enjoyed reading the posts here over the last two years, but always with a hint of envy at all of your achievements - now I can put all the knowledge I have accrued from here to good use.

Think i'll start off simply with the tatties, onions, garlic etc, which I have had chitting/sprouting away just on the off chance that this would be my lucky season.

So excited just had to tell someone..........

You lucky devil you - me I'm still on the waiting list and hopefully will get one whilst I am still young enough to dig it ;D  I will just have to be happy with my barrels and containers dotted around my garden.  I'm sure my neighbours think I'm an old rag and bones lady!!

Good luck and don't go at it too wildly to start off with - a little every day seems to be the key thing.  PS : regarding the garlic - make sure that you split all the cloves apart before planting them - this was my first year planting mine and only on Saturday when I was checking up on them and saw all the green shoots popping out all bunched together did it dawn on me that how were they going to grow - Duhh!   :-[ ??? another senior moment! - so guess what I am doing this week-end - yeah unplanting and splitting the garlic and then replanting it.

Well done and I hope you are luckier than me....my plot hadn't been worked for 3 years but the previous occupant wouldn't give it up. Now after 18 months of digging, digging and more digging I have a plot to be proud of and a back that will cost me a fortune to put right at the Ostiopath. ;D
