Amazing they can take off really.

Our resident wood pigeon (aka - lunch if I ever get my hands on it) monopolises the bird table something rotten - despite the fact that it is too fat to fit under the roof and get at the seed! Meanie  >:(

We also have bumblebees in our garden getting very excited about the daffs that came out over the weekend - more than once I have heard a thump as one careers into the ground after completely missing the flower it was aiming at!!

After lunch they give up flying completely and just waddle round the garden and climb up the crocuses!  ;D  ;D  ;D

Sorry MrsKP,

Warm, wet, West should have read Warm(er), wet, West!   I guess it's relative... ;)

Either that or I've been lucky with the temperatures whenever I've opped up there for a visit! ;D

My bulbs are still thinking about it.  Any day now though...
Sheldon, Birmingham.  I've put the pin on Google Earth where my shed is, in the allotments.  It's in an area with a satellite photo which is cool!  You can't miss it, there's a bl**dy great big Airport next door!

I set bulbs in my wildflower meadow last November. I now have dozens of blooms, dafs, crocus, snowdrops (but very few), but I was puzzled by so many flattened crocus (and a few daffs). Is it really birds that do it, or should I blame hedgehogs? (or yet, strong winds?)

tim

Flatten them? No - I won't - I'll just eat the lot!!
