what in your opinion are the best strain for Baking Pots

Really plebs, us - any old thing tastes great. Treated properly!

Never tried to compare. But Pru did - in her list a day or so ago?

And why buy hand-selected & scrubbed 'baking potatoes' - at a premium - per each - when any size will do. Just do more!!

And I notice that they have bags of 'baking potatoes' which seem identical - various size & shape - to many other bags??

Tim is correct here, I am also a pleb. Not being a massive potato eater, I go for flavour rather than bulk, although I have found Cara to be more consistent than King Edward. That is probably down to my poor gardening skills probably though.
The impossible is just a journey away ...

I don't have the benefit of comparing but I grew Cara last year and they were great baked, will be growing more this year specifically for baking, added bonus that they show blight resistance too which is usually a problem for us.

Saxon early in the summer (or hold back some Sharpes Express cos they become floury  ;))
Cara are good, but the slugs seem to agree on my plot !

Have to agree about Arran Victory though   ;D -  superb spud, my all time tastiest favourite,  and especially good for mash and roasties  ;D

Desiree, which I grew last year. It's a  red potato and was wonderful mashed as well.

Estima, when we have a good year (not 05!) then they're waxy and creamy and fantastic with just butter on.

Not that many spuds were good last season, all came out a bit drier than usual.
