There was me smug in my first year to have caterpillar free cabbage,  until last night that is when I found a plant (just one) covered in cabbage white caterpillars - and nearly full size ones at that!   Where on earth did they come from so quickly although I know hwere they have gone to  ;)

I was really surprised though - do they crawl from plant to plant and so maybe from someone elses plot?

Was also smug about the Kale until child number one found one in her last mouthful last night...oops.   Still she thought it quite funny so no harm done.  Phewwww!

They almost always come from the underside of the leaf - where the B b/flies lay their eggs!

;D  I had been looking out for them Tim but hadn't seen any or found any signs such as droppings.  Also not much in the way of plants being eaten which is why I was so surprised at the size and number of them.

The sods have eaten into my aubergine (my one and only good aub)  :'( and eaten it from within  >:(

Checked for tell tale signs and there were definite lumpy things on undersides of leaves.  Squished all with fingers and checked plant for living things.  Nothing found to can rest easy for tonight.  Will check again for marauders  ;D  I only have puny little aubergine left  :'(

The organic insecticide spray is pants  :(
