on friday we had a cloud burst of rain......a min of 50 mm ( 2 inches)++ in a matter of 20 minutes :o. did a fair bit of flooding and damage to the area. it was localised to the roehampton area of wandsworth. luckilly our allotment is on a nice slope so the run off was good without clogging up the place. the ground is nice and soaked by it now.....and having more gentle rain on and off. jsut in time to make the ground heavy for preparing for autumn and winter crops! cant win can we...

I presume you must have had all that rain yesterday too then. Just when we thought we'd have some friends round & hoped we could sit in the garden. Instead we had to shut the doors to stop the rain coming in!

After 1 1/2 inches in the day, our potatoes are coming up bone dry!

We had a couple of inches; my soil is quite damp, but I haven't dug down deep at all since.

In arid Essex, we have had flooding!  Glad to say my well drained plot is fine, and at last, damp a spits depth!  My garden on the other hand is thick with lovely Essex clay and is now a swamp, and it will probably remain that way until next April!

We still haven't had any rain in Hampshire, it all missed us!
