Anyone watching 'Extras' staring Ricky Gervais?  Is it just me, or do others find him totally....ahem...not funny?  Once in a blue moon I see 'The Office' on UK Gold and think it is okay, but it isn't side splittingly funny, and to be quite honest, I find it kinda boring at times..... I have heard people call him a comedy genius......I don't agree......

Now, 'The Smoking Room' has me in stitches!

i agree with you there, EJ. it's not ;funny because it continuously teases one of more of the collegues. it would be funny if he actually got his comeuppance once in a while, you know, being really humbled. i find it boring.

give me the mighty boosh anytime ;D

The second is a real weepie, okay I admit it, I am a bit of a softie !

I watched some of Extras and I stopped watching it in favour of the paper so it didn't do it for me either.  I missed wotsit Tate after that.  Was that good?  The trailer of the dog training class looked funny  :)

I used to like the office and that uncomfortably squirmy humour, especially when David B was in trouble with his suave boss  :)  Also I think every office has a Gareth in it  ;D (I think that was his name)
I came, I saw, I composted

Mimi

Have to agree with you there Emma.  Cant stand the man and dint see a thing that is funny about him.  Give me 'Teachers' or 'Two pints of lager' anyday.  Totally hysterical. ;D ;D
Now Derek  Meet Joe Black.............mmmmmmmmmmmm yummy Brad Pitt at his most most gorgeous :P  :P  :P  :P The films not bad either  ;)
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

It was not until the thing got an award as comedy I even realised Office was supposed to be funny. So I watched 2 minutes of Extras and ditto. Both programs are about as funny as shifting 20 tons of manure with a spoon!
Gardening is the great leveller.

Phew, so there isn't something wrong with my sense of humour.   ;D  Love Pirates of the Carribean, or at least I assume I do as the 2 occassions I have seen it, I slept through the last 20 minutes!

Emma, i cannot stand that man, " funny" ??? i would sooner watch a fire go out.

Merry Tiller

Blimey, what a bunch of miserable get's. Can't stand him? have you met him? ???

Mrs Ava

Now I didn't say I didn't like him personally, I am sure he is a very nice man, kind to small children and animals.....I just don't think his comedies are very....comical.

DolphinGarden

I agree with you Emma, distinctly unfunny. I saw him portray his office persona on MTV links between programmes there, unaware that he had spun a career out of it on the Office series. I kept saying, who is that prat? Maybe if he is kind to children and animals, then he did a good job of writing himself as an @sshole.

As svea said, if he got his comeuppance a la Basil Fawlty, then it may have something.

He's full of it...

GREENWIZARD

not my bag either~ mr gw & the snake find him side splittingly funny ??? ???
now what about the league of gentlemen ( all my boys love it )~i can't watch it , i just find all the characters totally repulsive

I really did like League of Gents - it did have it's very dark moments though I must say.  I think it was very clever though and so many characters.  Papa Lazaru gave my OH nightmares  :o

How reassuring to hear other people say they didn't find 'The Office' funny. The bits I watched to try and see what people at work were talking about were painful & torturous - not amusing at all.

The bits I've seen of Extras didn't seem as cruel but not really funny.

And as for Big Brother .......

I thought it was just me ........ Thanks,Guys

SORRY. I think I will have to come out as a supporter of The Office. I thought it was a brilliant programme - certainly not roll around on the floor/big belly laughs funny, but very observational, understated  & just verging on the edge of cringeworthy. Sadly I don't think Extras has hit the spot. There are some funny moments but a bit few & far between.

TEL

Don't watch normal TV so what time & side is this on.
Then can see how good or bad it is.

I have to say I've watched some episodes of the Office and not laughed. I also don't find the Smoking Room makes me laugh either,I think I'm too busy thinking "yuck" at the yellow walls! I like League of Gents but still mostly only have a smirk.  The only thing I've laughed at recently was on Monkey Trousers....the geordie space mission thing and vic reeves doing that priest/vicar doing a sermon. His stupid voice cracks me up. Oh and Jonathan Ross usually can say something on his chat show that gets me giggling. I dunno, I must be miserable or something cos I rarely laugh at the stuff on the telly.

I remember one time having nothing to do one afternoon, catching one of the carry on films. It was the Cleopatra one. I've watched them so many times as a child, but this particular time it had me in stitches! This time I got the jokes! this time it amused me. I've been suprised by my reaction to that film ever since!

Also one time, my flatmate and I found ourselves watching "The Good The Bad and The Ugly", we sat there during the opening few minutes with tears rolling down our faces crying with laughter at that grotty character that Clint so hates. Can't remember the sequence now but it had us bad with laughter!

Eeee theres nowt better than a good old belly laugh is there. Cheers me up just thinking about it!
