The biggest of my globes cut today.  Was hoping to keep them until I see my gramps next week, however, there are loads of lovely young side shoots growing, so if we get a drop of rain, I will cut them and take!

they look really pretty - not sure if i've ever eaten them - what are they like?
gone to pot :D

What are they like..well...like artichokes really.  :-\  Once trimmed, and de-choked,  I boil them until tender, then gently pull the leaves off one by one, dip in lashings of butter, and suck the flesh from the leaves.  As you get to the centre you have a thick piece of flesh - the heart, which is delicious!  If they are young and small, they don't have any choke, so I eat the lot!!!

Marianne

I eat them the continental way.

Boil them - then let them cool down.  Whilst that is happening, make a vinaigrette and dip the artichoke leaves therein ! Absolute heaven !  ::) ;D
Enjoy today to the full.  You are not sure of a tomorrow.

;D They look lovely, but don't sound very healthy with lashings of butter ??? Got to watch my figure as no one else does ;D

How old are your plants EJ? I planted two small plants this year so am hoping to get some chokes next year, that's if I don't kill them between now and then.
