Someone earlier this year was saying that they grew strawbs in guttering on the inside of their greenhouse and got an early crop that way.

Well, we've had strawbs in pots in ours on 2 levels of staging - the top level is now burning them to a frazzle and they're not cropping any more, the more shaded lower tier is still cropping away merrily.

I want to try this guttering idea next year, but what happens to the plants in the guttering when we reach this sort of weather?
"Given that these are probably the most powerful secateurs in the world, and could snip your growing tip clean off, tell me, plant, do you feel lucky?"

Weedin project,

It was me!

I think the guttering method is great. Mine are still fruiting - I leave

the greenhouse door and window open constantly and water them

when necessary. I am still waiting for some to fruit, as I had planted

a  variety of types ( can't remember names)

How about painting the roof of the greenhouse with this special stuff that is opaque when sunny and gets transparent when it rains to prevent scorching?
