Try the Charity shops, they usually have demijohns round here for 50p each! Or ask older rellies and friends, many of them have wine making kit cluttering up their lofts!

Take a look on ebay.

You can pick up some real bargains on demijohns and a whole range of brewing equipment, you just have to drop lucky on someone selling in your area so you can collect as postage costs would be high.

Try this link to ebay - Beer and Wine making section...

This year I tried using 5 litre plastic water bottles from Tesco.
I bored a hole in the screw-top lid, inserted the f. lock and "double-sealed" it with plasticine.

Am I going to be drinking vinegar this Christmas??

Expert advice much welcomed!

Not sure about the sterile nature of the plasticene, but other than that there should be no problem.

I sometimes brew smallish batches of Bock & Lager in a water cooler bottle, they hold about 15 litres and you can get rubber caps that fit and take an airlock

also, dont forget to look up your local 'freecycle' group.

you can ask for stuff, rather than having to check every day and seeing what is being offered. i think they would like you to loffer something first, before you put in a 'wanted' ad. i have gotten rid of a number of things i wouldnt have been able to give to charity shops (TV, stereo system in perfect working order) and have asked fro wine making stuff and will be picking up quite a few things next weekend :)
