Kerry

hi all,
can any of you advise the best time for planting out:
a) celeriac,
b) celery and
c) kohl rabi?

the first two are sturdy little plants, up till now in greenhouse, moved to coldframe today. the kohl rabi has been in the coldframe for a week or so. unsure of frost hardiness.
thanks. :)

not sure, but a warning here, the slugs ate all of my kohl rabbie babies overnight. BBAAAAArrrrrrrrsssfhffjDS

Lady Cosmos

a. Celeriac-  plant out in May and June- watch the slugs, the carrot fly and the celery fly.
b. Celery- plant out in May and June- need lots of water
c. Kohl rabi- plant out now as well- Protect against the birds as well.... >:(

Kerry

thanks for the warning gunnerbee!
and for the advice Lady Cosmos :) i'll get myself organised now.

Not wholly to do with C,C & K, but to suggest that one should start from the other end. IE - when to sow rather than when to plant?

Plant, weather permitting, when they are good & ready. When they have a good root ball. And big is not always beautiful. Potting up in too big a jump can result in poor roots.

Kerry

agree on the roots, Tim, thanks.
chose not to pot on some tomatoes when doing the majority the other day- sown at same time, but not ready.
weather permitting? not today! :-\
at the risk of looking daft-plants in your picture-?,? and tomato?
