Allotments 4 All

Here is a little raised bed my OH has constructed for me, even though he hates gardening  :P ::)

Have moved most of the seedlings in there and hope they will survive!

I am very happy with it as my garden is tiny and this will give me more space to grow.

Planning permission??

No idea !  It's been built of second hand bricks on one side of our largest patio.   Do you need planning permission to build such a small thing? ???

One point though... and it depends whether it's built against a house wall or a standard wall. If it's against the latter, no problem; if it's against the former, it'd be an idea to check where the level of the damp-proof course is, otherwise, over time, you could be getting damp seeping inside the house, from the soil/wall contact above the damp course membrane.

Looks great Marianne, as far as building regs go I'm sure they are pulling your leg. But it is a valid point about the damp though. Maybe at the end of the growing season put some sort of polythene membrane and maybe a row of bricks along the back. Obviously if its only an outside wall no problems.

The little bed has been built against an outside wall which separates our two patios.

So I suppose the plants and the wall should be OK.  The stains that show at the top of the bricks are signs of rain that we have had since early this morning ??? :'(

My OH has in fact left some "holes" and omitted some bricks on the side of the construction in order to "let out" any excess damp. 
Happy to know I did not need any planning permission  ;D
