Just wondering how many of you take a mobile phone with  you when you go to the allotment?
Accidents happen so easily and also - at our site anyway - the majority of people are retired - some in their 80's and by their own admission, not as sprightly as they used to be.
One chap tripped over some uneven ground last year and was black and blue, luckily he had a mobile with him after his daughter had nagged at him for just this kind of eventuality and he was able to call for help.
My dad is 65 and he has promised to take the mobile with him if he goes to the lottie on his own - you never know when you might need it and there isn't a public phone anywhere near the site. So I would urge everyone to at least consider it  :)

We got my Mum a mobile to take everywhere with her just in case, hardest thing was getting her to
(a) remember to take it &
(b) remembering to turn it on!  ;D

She has got the hang of it now though!!
We don't inherit the earth, we only borrow it from our children.

Not a lottie related but a phone related tale.

My mum wont take her phone out with her  ................ incase it rings!!  :o :o  ::)

I take mine to the lottie.
A friend is someone who thinks you are a good egg,
even though you are slightly cracked.

LOLOL it does make me laugh.  How on earth did people manage their lotties (or even their lives?!) before mobile phones came along?  ???

I know what you mean - my stepdaughter (age 17) can't believe we always had a 2p with us in case we ever needed to make a call from a public phone box when we were kids   :)
Mobiles do have their uses though. As a driving instructor out on the road all day I've seen several accidents (not caused them though!!) and crimes and it's been really useful to make an emergency call as you see something happening,.

;) Another good thing is to collect your lottie friends and secretaries land line and mobile numbers and store them in your mobile (not at home) just in case your last out and forgot/lost your key or even get locked in or some dumbo has put glue in the lock, and maybe numerous other hazards I may have missed. :o
