Digeroo

I cannot find anything about moving away from Ryton on their web site.  They sold off the garden centre and retail side some years ago.

They closed the Garden at Yalding in Kent a few years ago... is it an old story being recycled?

Would it still be worth being a member if you couldn't see the gardens? Be interesting to see if they reduce the membership cost as they are reducing the perks?

I've been reading about this, it's being discussed all over social media, I think GO have really shot themselves In The foot by keeping the members in the dark.

Several angry members are intending to contact GO tomorrow when the office opens demanding an explanation.

I wonder if GO even cares what it's members think.....
Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

This is a very sad end to what used to be a wonderful teaching garden.  I wish it had been given to the National Trust instead.   :sad4:

Getting away a bit from HSL, but I thought I'd mention that a Save Ryton Gardens group has started up on Facebook two days ago for anybody interested.

It looks like permission has been given in principle for 54 houses and the sale is with 'vacant possession'.  On the other hand Garden Organic have finally issued a statement, where they effectively say, that a sale is only one money saving option, rather a done deal.

That's what I thought. Usually takes much longer. I have thrown leeks out before now after a good month and then they have started to germinate.
